About the role

The Federation of Shepeau Stow Primary School and Gedney Hill Church of England Primary School are looking to appoint a Learning Mentor 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year to work across the two schools . The successful candidate will be committed to helping children to succeed, have excellent communication skills and be able to work using their own initiative and manage their own timetable. Overview of the role of a Learning Mentor: Providing support to children in and out of the classroom. Assisting with a range of SEMH and Behavioural needs. Providing children with the care and compassion they need to thrive in school. Liaising with parents and external agencies where suitable. Working collaboratively with the teacher and the wider school team to improve outcomes for children. We would love to hear from people who: Have worked within a classroom environment. Are ELSA Trained Have a proven track record supporting children with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health difficulties Are passionate about supporting children. Are empathetic, nurturing and understanding of children’s needs. Have high expectations for children’s progress and achievements. Promote a child’s development and learning (physical, emotional, educational and social) whilst fostering growth, self-esteem and independence. Designated Safeguarding Training is desirable, or the willingness to undertake this training Experience implementing Early Intervention Programmes Experience supporting families Act in accordance with school policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection, safeguarding, protected characteristics and behaviour management. Experience of working with SEND with SEMH needs is essential.
