At Five Acres High School, we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to help provide nutritious, high quality meals in a welcoming environment where pupils can enjoy healthy food and develop positive eating habits.
As a Catering Assistant you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals while maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards. You will support the smooth running of the kitchen, provide a welcoming service to pupils and staff, and help create a positive dining experience that encourages healthy eating habits. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and is passionate about providing high quality school meals in a friendly and supportive environment. Key aspects of the role include General duties in the kitchen, canteen, the hub and the 10 block Assist in the preparation and cooking of school meals. Assist with the service presentation of food and beverages. This will include use of the till system (full training will be provided) Attend training courses and meetings as required. Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times. Responsible for securing the kitchen at the end of shift Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas.
A good relevant education to GCSE Level or equivalent Good numeracy and literacy skills A food hygiene qualification (training will be arranged if required) Experience of working in a busy school kitchen is desirable but not essential
Basic knowledge of health and safety guidelines Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Excellent communicator Willingness to work flexible hours including some evening work if required (notice will be given) to support on site events.
