About the role

Ashby Fields Primary School is seeking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant Pay scale: Grade D, point 3-4 Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm (39 weeks per year - term time + training days) Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s lives? Do you have the patience, dedication, and creativity to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? If so, Ashby Fields Primary School would love to hear from you! We are a wonderful, inclusive school with a strong sense of community, and we are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support to a child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the child, class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to create a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment. The role will involve helping the child to develop emotional regulation, positive relationships, confidence, independence and engagement with learning. The successful applicant will be someone who is calm, consistent and compassionate, with an understanding that behaviour is often a form of communication. They will be able to build a trusting relationship with the child while maintaining clear and appropriate professional boundaries. What we are looking for: Experience of working with children or young people, preferably within an educational or SEND setting. A genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs. An understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and the impact these can have on behaviour, relationships and learning. A calm, patient and nurturing approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children while maintaining appropriate boundaries. The ability to remain calm and professional when faced with challenging or emotionally demanding situations. A consistent and positive approach to behaviour support. The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND, is desirable but not essential. A team player who is eager to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our pupils.
