The Role As a Cover Supervisor, you will: • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher across a variety of subjects. • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment. • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy. • Support pupils in completing the work set by teaching staff. • Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil engagement and lesson outcomes. • Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to the smooth running of the school day. No planning or marking is required for the majority of supply assignments. The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: • Have experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or similar setting. • Be confident leading a classroom and managing behaviour effectively. • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Be organised, adaptable and able to build positive relationships quickly. • Have a proactive and professional approach to supporting students. • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one. We're working with multiple schools across Leigh who are in need of confident and outgoing Cover Supervisors who can cover whole classes in the absence of a teacher. The successful person will have responsibility of between students in a classroom environment and will be expected to bridge the gap until the staff member returns as best as possible on a short term basis. Skills required to be a Cover Supervisor in Ramsbottom / Bury; • Must be aged 21 or above • Hold a degree or equivalent in any specialist subject • Good ability to effectively manage large groups of children • Have some prior experience of working with children and/or vulnerable adults • Have an understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (training will be provided) • Be an engaging and confident individual • Good communication skills • Professional, reliable and punctual • Be adaptable and able to cope well with a hectic day! • Be available 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday through Friday for 3 or more days a week (term time only) Successful candidates will be required to conduct an interview and complete a vetting process which includes an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS, if you do not have one, you can get one through Connex Education.
