Job description

This is a fixed-term contract for the duration of the 18‑month apprenticeship. Upon completion you will achieve a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Level 3 Apprenticeship Rates: Under 18 years - £16,012 per annum 18-20 years - £21,510per annum 21+ years - £24,520 per annum Leeds City College have an exciting opportunity to join our 14-16 Skills Programme as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant. We are seeking a dynamic, talented and organised individual to undertake this important role. This role requires a Teaching Assistant to make a contribution towards positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students. What You Will Do Work closely with programme tutors and 14 -16 Mentors in supporting individual students or groups of students who may demonstrate emotional and behavioural issues. Support teaching staff where individual student behaviour within a group is impacting on the learning of the group as a whole. Collaborate with programme tutors and 14 -16Mentors to develop learning strategies and practices for pre-16 pupils including individual and group student support strategies. Collaborate with programme tutors and 14 -16Mentors to facilitate links with schools, parents and appropriate external agencies e.g. Education Welfare Service, Social Services, Social Inclusion Unit and Youth Offending Teams. Assist with the collection and maintenance of documentation for student records. Contribute to individual student target-setting and reviews and contribute to ongoing advice and guidance concerning progression routes pre- and post-16. Maintain an overview of attendance and follow up absences immediately. Attend team and staff meetings as well as case study meetings and be a member of the College’s care and control team. About You Good general education including Maths and English at Functional Skills Level 2 or above (or GCSE Level 4 or above). Appropriate training and/or a willingness to undertake training in supporting the needs of disengaged/disadvantaged students who may have emotional and behavioural needs. Experience of working with disengaged/disadvantaged young people in an educational setting.
