Job description

Learning Support Mentor Full time (Monday to Friday) Salary: £27,319 actual Start date: September 2026 Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people? At Horizons Academy, our Learning Support Mentors play a crucial role in helping pupils with a wide range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning difficulties overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes. We are looking for caring, resilient and highly motivated individuals who can build positive relationships quickly and effectively with young people. Using a trauma-informed and relational approach, you will support pupils to feel safe, understood and ready to engage in learning. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals. As a Learning Support Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support that promotes academic progress, emotional wellbeing and personal development. You will help pupils develop strategies to regulate their emotions, build resilience and make positive choices, while maintaining high expectations and consistently promoting excellent standards of behaviour. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people by helping them develop the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed. If you are committed to supporting vulnerable pupils, believe in the power of positive relationships, and can combine empathy with clear boundaries and high expectations, we would love to hear from you. Join Horizons Academy and help transform the futures of young people every day.
