Job description

Salary at scale BR4 point 13 (FTE £25,703 - £13.69 per hour) Breakfast sessions 7.15-8.45am, After school sessions 2.45-6.00pm Monday-Friday, 38 weeks per year [term time only] Hawes Down Primary School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Play Worker to join our friendly wraparound care team. You will support the delivery of high-quality breakfast and after-school provision, creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children aged [4-11]. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about play, wellbeing, and inclusion. Key Responsibilities Supervise and engage children in a range of play activities (indoor and outdoor) Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at all times Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development through play Serve light meals/refreshments prepared by our catering team in line with food hygiene standards Maintain a clean and organised play space Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times Work positively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents What we’re looking for Experience working with children (in a school, childcare or play setting) is desirable A positive, energetic, and patient approach Good communication and teamwork skills A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Ability to engage children in creative and active play Desirable: Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Playwork, Childcare, or similar) First Aid certification Food hygiene certificate What We Offer A supportive and friendly working environment Opportunities for training and development Term-time working for a better work-life balance The chance to make a real difference in children’s daily experiences Please refer to the job description and person specification for more information.
