Job description

Sunrise Academy, Lowestoft 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year - Permanent Salary: £25,185 - £25,989 per annum (Dependent on qualifications and experience) Actual Salary: £21,377 - £22,059 per annum We are seeking a proactive and approachable Student Liaison Officer to join Eastern Education Group. In this key role, you will engage positively with students to promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will be responsible for fostering positive behaviour, supporting student wellbeing, and responding calmly and effectively to any issues that arise on campus, at bus stops, or during break and lunchtimes, while demonstrating an understanding of the additional support needs some students may require. You will use de-escalation, restorative, and negotiation techniques to manage conflicts and support students in regulating their behaviour and emotions. You will monitor access to the site and work closely with staff, families, external agencies, local businesses, and the Police Community Support Officer to build strong relationships and a supportive environment, particularly for vulnerable and SEND students. You will also produce accurate reports to record incidents, monitor wellbeing concerns, and support effective decision-making and safeguarding processes. The successful candidate will bring excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice, and good report-writing abilities, along with experience of working with young people in mainstream and/or SEND settings. Ideally the right candidate will have experience in the police force or armed forces or other careers that require high levels of personal decision making and negotiation skills. Educated to Level 3, you will be enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and able to use your initiative while working within Eastern Education Group policies and procedures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to student safety, wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement across the Eastern Education Group. This is a new opportunity at Sunrise Academy.
