Job description

Batley Multi Academy Trust’s sole purpose is to provide a great education for Primary and Secondary learners throughout a local family of schools. The Trust is passionately committed to the communities of Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury and our surrounding areas, serving our local learners and their families in order to secure excellent educational outcomes, partnered with high aspirations. Batley Multi Academy Trust currently comprises Batley Girls’ High School; Batley Grammar School; Upper Batley High School; Healey Junior, Infant and Nursery School; Field Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School; Manorfield Infant and Nursery School; Purlwell Infant and Nursery School and Hyrstmount Junior School. The Trust also operates two community centres called The Fields and the Yorkshire Rose Teaching Partnership for adult education and the Smart Academy. We provide high quality education for all our young people regardless of their background or starting point. Collaboration across our Trust family of schools enables us to share expertise, knowledge and best practice to ensure academic and pastoral excellence, with all schools embracing the same overall ethos and values, whilst maintaining their own unique characters. At Hyrstmount Junior School, we are proud to offer a nurturing, warm, and happy environment where learners thrive academically, socially and personally. Our extensive school grounds are a unique feature of the school, including a forest area, a pond, two large playgrounds, an allotment, and an all-weather pitch. These outdoor spaces allow our learners to engage in hands-on learning and physical activity, fostering creativity, exploration, and environmental awareness. At the heart of our school are our Hyrstmount Heroic Values: respect, cooperation, determination, responsibility, and empathy. These values underpin everything we do and create the foundations for our learners’ personal development. We are deeply committed to creating a cohesive school community where every child feels valued, supported, and able to reach their full potential. We are seeking to appoint an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic Educational Teaching Assistant (ETA) to provide the very best guidance, care and support to young people in our school. The successful candidate will work as part of a team including teaching and associate staff, to support the learning and welfare of our learners. Excellent team working skills, along with the ability to deal with difficult situations are essential. The successful candidate will need to have strong knowledge and experience of SEND, along with being able to demonstrate efficiency and enthusiasm, with a keen interest in Primary Education. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive forward thinking Trust, who in return for your commitment and hard work, will support you to achieve your own career goals and aspirations. Please contact the People and Talent team at: recruitment@batleymat.co.uk, if you have any questions. Please note, due to school holidays the school is closed and will re-open on 02 September 2026. Batley Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for Regulated Activity and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed. Batley Multi Academy Trust is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
