Job description

English Tutor Required for October start UQ3 Full time Permanent We are seeking to appoint an individual who has energy, enthusiasm, and drive to work with and support young people as a Tutor of English. Tutoring is hugely rewarding as you get to see tangible progress in the students you work with. It can also be a challenging job and those appointed will need to be creative, have stamina and a sense of humour. We wish to appoint Tutors who can successfully employ a range of teaching strategies to maximise the potential of our students across all Key Stages. This role works within an ethos to support students with gaps in their learning either as a result of absence, vulnerability or from other barriers to learning. The posts offer an opportunity to work within our fantastic English faculty supporting students through both small group withdrawal strategies or within classrooms to enhance their learning experience. The successful applicants will join the English faculty comprising a strong team of committed teachers. We offer an excellent Continued Professional Development programme within a supportive environment and are committed to continuous improvement in both teaching and learning. If you are looking for a new challenge or are an individual looking to enter the teaching profession this is a fantastic opportunity in a leading Academy, now part of the LiFE Multi-academy Trust, focused on ensuring that all students achieve or exceed their potential. We are proud of the work we do at Ashby School: if you are passionate about your subject, share our enthusiasm for teaching and learning and are seeking to develop your practice in a supportive and dynamic Academy, we would be delighted to hear from you. Closing Date The closing date for completed applications is Monday 7th September 2026 at 9:00am , with interviews taking place soon after. We might close the vacancy earlier if we find the right candidate. Application process Application forms and further details can be downloaded from Eteach. Completed application forms should be submitted via ETeach. An email will be sent to shortlisted candidates with details of the interview process and the outline of the day. If you have any queries on any aspect of the application or need additional information, please contact the school or send an email via ETeach, where we will be happy to help you. Thank you, and we are really looking forward to hearing from you. Ashby School Headteacher: Jude Mellor
