Job description

Priestlands is seeking to appoint a PE based Cover Supervisor to start as soon as possible in the new academic year. This post provides an ideal opportunity to gain versatile experience within the PE team and also in a general classroom environment. If you are considering a career in teaching, this is an ideal first step before completing your PGCE. The post would also be an opportunity for newly qualified teachers to gain experience prior to securing their first teaching position. The post will appeal to someone who likes being with young people and helping them to learn and succeed when the usual teacher is unavailable. It will require an innovative approach so that students can gain access to the work set and complete it in the time allowed. You will need to have a good sense of discipline (firm but fair) but a non-confrontational approach to the students is essential. Previous experience of working with young people in a similar role would be an advantage but is not essential as induction and training will be provided. However, the post will best suit someone who is naturally comfortable in the presence of young people, and of course, you will need to be sporty! The post is for a total of 32.5 hours per week, 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday which includes an unpaid lunch break. You will receive your salary in 12 equal payments. The post is for 38 working weeks per year (term time only), but you will be paid for 43.60 weeks of the year to include holiday pay. Please read the attached information pack for full details and please use your personal statement to show why you would be a suitable candidate. We do not expect to see AI generated statements. Benefits of working at Priestlands include: Free on-site car park Friendly and sociable colleagues Two week Autumn half term Enrolment in and generous contribution to one of the UK’s largest public sector pension schemes; LGPS Eligible for reduced rate membership at NFDC leisure centres A tax efficient Cycle-to-Work scheme through salary sacrifice Free and confidential Employee Assistance programme offering advice on a range of areas including well-being, housing and financial matters Access to the UK's largest online GP service; Livi Free eye sight test every 2 years Professional development opportunities for all staff Affordable on-site canteen If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. This post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 and you will be required to declare whether you have any criminal convictions.
