About the role

About us:

Doubletrees School is part of the Special Partnership Trust, a specialist educational trust committed to raising standards for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. We place our learners at the heart of everything we do, providing an ambitious and inclusive curriculum that supports learning, independence, resilience and preparation for life beyond school. Our dedicated team works collaboratively to ensure every learner receives high-quality education, care and support in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. We are ambitious, aspirational and purposeful, and we are looking for colleagues who share our commitment to improving the lives and experiences of our learners.

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at Doubletrees School. Whole-class teaching and class cover will form a significant part of this role. The successful candidate will regularly lead classes and deliver learning activities within an agreed framework, including providing cover during the short-term absence of teachers. You will need to be confident in taking responsibility for a class, leading other support staff and ensuring that learning remains purposeful, engaging and appropriately adapted to meet the diverse and complex needs of our pupils. Alongside your class-cover responsibilities, you will work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to contribute to planning, delivery and assessment. You will play an important role in supporting learners to develop their knowledge, skills, communication, confidence and independence, while promoting their welfare, inclusion and engagement. You will bring initiative, flexibility and strong classroom practice, helping to create a positive learning environment and supporting consistently high expectations for all pupils

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, delivery and assessment of lessons, adapting activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Teach whole classes within an agreed system of supervision and lesson framework, including during the short-term absence of teachers.
  • Promote pupils’ progress, independence, confidence, social development and inclusion.
  • Monitor and assess pupils’ responses to learning, providing detailed and constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Use effective behaviour-support strategies to maintain a safe, purposeful and positive learning environment.
  • Organise and safely manage learning environments, activities and resources.
  • Lead and effectively deploy Teaching Assistants and volunteers when delivering whole-class learning.
  • Contribute to meetings with parents, carers and other professionals, providing appropriate feedback on pupil progress and development.
  • Support pupils’ physical, medical, emotional and personal-care needs, following relevant training, risk assessments and school procedures.
  • Contribute to off-site activities and educational visits, including the completion and implementation of appropriate risk assessments.
  • Use school systems effectively to record, assess and report on pupil progress.
  • Uphold safeguarding requirements and follow all Trust and school policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Contribute positively to the wider school and Trust community and take responsibility for ongoing professional development. Our Total Reward Offer :

The Special Partnership Trust recognises the importance of developing a properly implemented People Strategy to underpin the overall strategic aims of the Trust. Our People Strategy is designed to help us attract prospective high calibre candidates, as well as drive engagement, productivity and retention of our high performing and high potential employees. It reflects our belief in putting our people first. This does not mean putting our learners second. It is based on the philosophy that if we create a positive and rewarding work environment, if our staff feel motivated, well managed and well supported, they in turn will provide the best possible outcome for our learners. We recognise that our total reward offer, has got to consist of more than just money. We seek to provide our staff with a diverse range of benefits that support their day to day needs both at work and outside of work. These include generous leave entitlements and pension scheme as well as access to health/wellbeing tools, training & development, career pathways and opportunities to ensure they feel valued. Please visit the Special Partnership website, www.specialpartnership.org for further information about our Trust, or to learn more about our People Strategy and Benefits click here.
